Bunny Jones is plain. Bunny Jones is poor. Bunny Jones doesn’t have a mother, a computer, or even a nice pair of clothes. But she does have something else Bunny Jones has a secret, a secret that turns an entire school community upside down.

“This short novel is full of exciting and emotionally distraught twists, and I was stunned by the outcome.”
Caroline Beneke, Anderson High School in Austin, TX

“A phenomenal book! I was glued to it for about a week. It made me laugh, cry and smile.”
Marie Baumgartner, Reading Middle School in Cincinnati, OH

“An absolutely great read that kept me engaged from start to finish. Seeing how each character developed made me feel like I was really connecting with myself.”
William Perez, Hyde Leadership Charter School in Bronx, NY

“Kristen is one of those characters that you love to hate. She is funny and blunt and mean. She reminds me of someone I know in my school.”
Morgan Simon, Carmel High School in Carmel, IN

“Bunny Jones is a treat read. The situations encountered by the characters are relevant to the actions of teens today and should give kids plenty of food for thought. It will be great for teaching.”
Judy Manning, Life Skills teacher at Lawther Academy in Maquoketa, IA

“I’ve never read a book that contained a character as relatable as Jolene. She is insightful and dynamic, and she makes you realize how precious you could be to someone you barely know.”
Addi Lang, Fort Zumwalt West High School in O’Fallon, MO

Bunny Jones edition by Erik Simon Literature Fiction eBooks

I was a little hesitant to read a novel about a group of high school girls, one of whom has a secret that turns their school social scene upside down. The premise could have easily ended in a cheesy and trite novel, but I was really pleased that Bunny Jones was so carefully and insightfully written.

The story reads like a stream of consciousness from each girls as the chapters alternate between different speakers. There's so much truth in how the clique is portrayed- there's the mean one, the nice one, the cheerleader, and that friend that goes along with everything.

And then there's Bunny Jones, the school outcast, the poor girl who lives with grandmother and gets overlooked most of the time. I was really pulled into the story and couldn't wait to find out what would happen as the narrative unfolded.

Without spoiling the ending, I would encourage anyone who likes fiction and who attended high school at some point to check out this book!

Bunny Jones edition by Erik Simon Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Erik Simon did an excellent job with this book. I read it with my students the last month of school. They were all able to relate to all of the characters in the story. Most would stop the class to say, "I know someone just like that". Before I picked up the book I knew little about it, but had been asked to read it. I am now telling every teacher I know to read it and read it to their students as well. So many times we forget that bullying occurs where we don't/can't see it. Bunny Jones touches those less talked about areas in schools, the ones that really matter and we need to address.
Congrats on such an amazing book! My students are waiting for the sequel!!
This book, not only is it very well thought out and planned, is also very relatable and a big eye opener! The story really makes you think how much popularity runs a school and also how much someone who has nothing is willing to do in order to get people to like her. Everybody knows, or has known, a kristyn in their life. (Whether a boy or a girl) and some of us ourselves may be a kristyn. But that makes the book so much more realistic an relatable because we all have a backstabbing friend that is too good for everyone and will do anything that benefits her, and popularity is what matters most to her. However there is one thing I didn't like about the book; the way it ends. It really leaves you in suspense and makes you want to keep reading! I'm personally not a fan of that. A book two maybe? I would be all up for reading that! But this book is really good and you should read it because you never know just how much this will open your eyes to how ridiculous popularity is and also that not everyone is as they seem! Well, at least that's what I got out of this book!! - Gaby (
I received a copy of this book for free from the author in return for an honest review. Bunny Jones is filled with people we all know... As a middle school teacher I feel that this book honestly portrays what is going on with today's students. We all know those students on the fringes of the group. What would you do to be popular? What face do these kids put on for their peers to see? Do we really "know" anybody (especially in Middle School!)? This is a great, quick read with many important teachable moments for today's youth. Highly recommend!
Erik Simon has been able to capture the language and attitude of teenage girls. I particularly found Jolene to be heart-warming and compassionate. This story deals with today's real issues. I will read it again and again. In the midst of humor it draws a conflict that many times is overlooked!
Erik Simon has done it again. He has taken fictional charaters and turned them into real life situations. I am a teacher and this book is perfect for helping to address bully situations that are not considered hate crimes or violent. Kristen is the kind of person that lets you know straight up it's all about her. Each charater in the book took me back to my high school years and I could identify each person in the book to my high school peers. The story line is real, the conflicts are real, and it points out so many situations teens face today. Humor, compassion, and realism make this book impossible to put down, but more importantly impossible not to use as a teaching tool.
Thank you Erik Simon for bringing us to the world of teenagers!
